Gifted actress brings humanity, humor to human-cyborg role as
C-3PO
C-3PO was a role that Reegan never really wanted. She really favored the
role of Princess Leia, in large part thanks to a love of Disney princesses
that she shares with co-star Avery.
But as Threepio, Reegan really became one of our film's most memorable
stars. The troubled, whiny robot endeared himself to audiences thanks
to a portrayal that was both human and humorous.
As one of the film's main characters, Threepio is on stage for most of
the production. The shooting schedule was grueling for Reegan, who had
to endure hours under a mask that smelled of fresh paint. Concerned stage
managers took every off-camera opportunity to relieve Reegan of her mask.
Despite the fumes and the discomfort, Reegan's Threepio is fantastic.
Reegan also appeared on stage as an Imperial scan crew member. What a
relief to be free of that mask - even if only for a moment. For audiences,
however, we prefer to see Reegan behind the mask where her talents come
to life in the form of that golden droid - C-3PO.
